Xbox One or PS4? Which is better and why?

I would say PS4 because it's more powerful and therefore more future proof. It's able to run BF4 at 1080p at 60 fps, while the Xbox can only run it at 30 fps at 1080 and therefore has to down the graphics to 720p. As knit-picky of a thing that is, it's pretty unacceptable for a next gen console to not be able to run a game at 1080p 60 fps when 4k is right around the corner. Sony and Microsoft really need to up their game. Also, Halo isn't that great of an exclusive, and Sony has a counter-exclusive, if you will, for any other exclusive that Microsoft comes out with, like Forza vs Gran Turismo.

I like the xbox controllers better, but i dont know about the spec diffrences between the two. I like the xbox 260 better than the ps2 controller. That's about all I can say because I haven't used anything newer. The xbox 360 controller feels more ergonomic than the ps2 and it is the right size for my big hands.

I use an xbox controller for my PC racing games. I have a really difficult time using a PS controller, especially the way the analog sticks are placed. It's horrible.

They are pretty similar in specs it's only the community, controller and OS you buy yourself into, and also some exclusives games. Personally I like the Xbox controller (because PS controllers are too small and feel like they could break once they hit the floor) and from experience has the Xbox servers been better than the PS ones. I don't trust the PS network because of their server being easily hacked in 2011 (It even has it's own wiki article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Network_outage)And also, I love the Halo series

If you want power for your gaming experience you don't go for a console, you go for a PC. The console is cheap household item meant for casual gaming.

My craptop actually runs BF4 (judging from benchmarks) better than both consoles would. Kind of funny.

Would be PC if that is an option.
But since its xbox or PS, I would go for Xbox, because of the controller mostly. Never liked the PS one (never was able to shoot straight)
But actually the steam box is going to be a intresting competive because that console will be upgradeable thoughout the entire product life cycle.

Heh, I never liked the Xbox controller and like the ps2 one best actually By the way, the steambox isn't a console properly - it will have too much PC hardware and software, like (hopefully) access to the base Linux OS, and of course upgradability! PC all the way, especially when steamOS is available, and maybe AMD's barebones kinda api comes to fruition! Anyway, if I were to have to choose, it would be ps4.
