Sorry for bad english some options are optifine with all things down, fast and short. The particles down and vSync off and openGL off. I play things on normal and fast. The leafs are changed but the rest it's ok.

Giving that much RAM to AT launcher may not be the best idea. You need to consider the full RAM usage of your computer, down to the Operating System. If you choke any system down along the path, it will slow you down.
Example: You Give - Modded Minecraft Utopia Pack 3.5 GB What Actually happens: Minecraft runtime (this is the running Modpack you play) will receive anywhere from 1-3 GB of RAM Java runtime (Java is the environment in which Minecraft runs) will receive 1-2 GB of RAM to maintain the Minecraft Runtime Windows (assuming windows just because it's more common, although the same is true for Mac OS, or Linux ext.) will be left with .5 GB
Windows 7/8 needs about 1 GB just to maintain it's own stability. If you choke Windows all file call operations become limited. Minecraft makes a lot of file calls to look up textures of blocks, world location data, among other things. This can seriously slow down the render rate of the world.
In conclusion: Always leave 1 GB of system RAM for your OS to operate. Try Giving the Utopia Pack 3GB (3036MB) in the AT launcher. Return and Report :-D.
If this doesn't help, please provide System information so that we can suggest other ideas. Operating System Version, Video Card, Processor, Hard drive configuration, and anything else you might consider helpful from your specific set up.

I run Utopia with 2GB ram on the launcher... its never uses it all, but that leaves the rest for my computer to work on all the things you dont see with the rest of the RAM I have.
I run Fast Graphics Normal render distance. Clouds off, particles min, and Vsync ON.
My system gives me 120FPS on these settings, and then when I record for youtube (which uses 30fps in video) I reduce my FPS via my recording software to restrict to 30 fps, it feels smooth and playable while still recording.

Personally I give the Utopia Pack 4GB from the launcher... then again, I have 8.
I also run Fast Graphics, Normal Render distance, clouds off (a new addition but it helps), particles min, but I leave Vsync Off.
Vsync for my monitor causes horrible screen tearing. The frames are fine, I just don't like the way it looks.
My system provides me with 50-60 FPS not recording and 30-40 while recording, which leaves it nice and smooth... Most of the time :-D #NeedANewComputer
