This may be old news to science buffs, but did you know there is a commercially available quantum computer? It only has 512 bits but for a quantum computer that is a lot more than what it sounds like and the number of bits is growing faster than Moore's Law. The number of bits is doubling every year. The bits are actually called Qubits which is short for quantum bits. This computer is only good at certain types of problems but at those problems the computer is a thousand times faster than the fastest super computer.
Google, NASA, USC, and Lockheed-Martin have already bought one.
The name of the computer is called Dwave 2. I find this thing extremely interesting and I've watched a couple dozen videos on it in the past few days. Here's a video that explains it:
